Illustration | 07Handling CRO content structures
As cloud-based services become more affordable, we are seeing a shift from the way Life Sciences companies manage their data at CROs. Historically, the CRO was used to help a company manage their eTMF content in the structures provided by that CRO. The challenge then comes into place with legacy data in various states of classification based on years of legacy information and harmonizing that content to comply with new classifications within the company’s cloud-based solution. With migration-center we can provide an easy solution to this activity by being able to handle the legacy forms of content structures that were utilized at the CRO over many years, and map and transform them into the classification structure in place today at Veeva; allowing a company to have their own instance of Veeva, migrate out of the CRO, and then allow the CRO to now work from the company’s Veeva hosted solution.

A straightforward six-steps approach

With only six steps created after years of best practice experience, migration-center strives for accuracy and efficiency. All steps are scalable to any demand and can be run both in parallel and independently from one another. In order to find all transformation or mapping errors before the import into the target system, most operations take place within migration-center’s database.

Migration process | Step 1

Extract & analyze

All objects to be migrated to Veeva Vault are exported from their corresponding source system and can be analyzed in terms of type, format, metadata, and other properties.

Migration process | Step 2

Organize

The objects are now organized into manageable sets. Such a set is usually created from objects that have something in common and are to be processed in the same or a similar way.

Migration process | Step 3

Transform & map

Transformation rules are assigned to each migration set, which are used to generate the properties for Veeva Vault. The transformation is executed within migration-center.

Migration process | Step 4

Validate

The transformed metadata of the documents is tested and validated against Veeva Vault but without importing the objects.

Migration process | Step 5

Correct

Potential errors are detected during the transformation and validation steps and can be corrected in unlimited iterations of step 3 and 4.

Migration process | Step 6 | Veeva Vault

Import

The transformed and validated objects are gradually imported into Veeva Vault.
